Potenza vs 10Therma
Potenza and 10Therma are two cutting-edge non-surgical treatment options for skin rejuvenation and collagen stimulation. While both of these devices use radiofrequency (RF) technology to accomplish similar goals, they each have their unique properties that may make one modality a better option for you depending on your current skin condition and goals.
Potenza
Potenza combines the benefits of traditional microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy. Using ultra-fine needles, the device creates tiny micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulate the body’s natural healing process and production of new collagen and elastin. At the same time, RF energy is delivered deep into the dermis through these microchannels, generating gentle heat that tightens existing collagen fibers while further boosting new collagen production.
The treatment addresses fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, and texture. It can be performed safely on all skin types and in multiple areas of the body, such as the face, neck, décolleté, abdomen, and arms. With customizable settings, providers can tailor the depth and intensity of each session. Potenza can also be combined with skinboosters (potent powerful skincare ingredients) to further boost its skin-rejuvenating effects.
Patients find the Potenza to be quite tolerable in terms of pain and discomfort. Patients can expect some redness, minor pinpoint bleeding, and some swelling immediately post procedure. Patients are advised to avoid prolonged sun exposure over the next couple of weeks as the skin heals. Patients are able to return to work after 24 hours. Full skin recovery typically takes 2-4 weeks. Patients may repeat Potenza treatments every 4-6 weeks for compounded collagen stimulation.
10Therma
10Therma is an updated anti-aging powerhouse comparable to Thermage and Thermage FLX. It is colloquially referred to as the “Non-surgical facelift” treatment. 10Therma is a non‐invasive, monopolar radiofrequency (RF) skin‐rejuvenation treatment developed in Korea that delivers controlled heat deep into the dermis to stimulate collagen. When heat is delivered into the dermis, old collagen fibers are damaged and begin a new cycle of fresh collagen regeneration. The treatment is designed to improve the skin’s firmness and laxity.
With 10Therma, patients can expect both immediate effects (collagen contraction that gives a lifting/tightening feel) and progressive improvements over the next several months, as the body produces more collagen during the healing process.10Therma has temperature sensors in the treatment tips and built-in cooling systems to protect the outer layer of skin from overheating or burns. Patient comfort levels range from uncomfortable to no discomfort at all. There is minimal to no downtime—some redness or warmth might occur, but most people can return to daily activities right away.
Areas commonly treated include the face, neck, jawline, under-chin double chin, and sometimes body areas with mild to moderate skin laxity. 10Therma improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and sagging skin to give the appearance of more youthful, lifted, tighter, and plumper skin.
Which Treatment is Right For Me?
The answer depends on your current skin condition, budget, desired goals, and timeline in which you would like to achieve your goals.
10Therma is completely non-invasive and has no downtime. One treatment will last anywhere from 6 months to 2-3 years. However, full benefits are not realized until 6 months after treatment. One full priced 10Therma treatment costs $1999.
Potenza is invasive and requires more downtime to completely heal. Patients are recommended to complete an initial set of 3 treatments, then 1-2 sessions for maintenance a year. Results will be seen after 2 weeks and then continue to improve over the next 12 weeks. One full priced Potenza treatment for face and neck is $775.
In short, if your primary concerns are improving skin texture, such as rough or crepey skin, then Potenza is the best option.
If your primary concern is reducing large pores, Potenza + microtox is the best option.
If your primary concern is addressing uneven pigmentation, such as sun spots or hyperpigmented acne scars, then Potenza is the best option.
If your primary concern is skin laxity, such as loose or sagging skin, then 10Therma is the best option (plus Sculptra or HD Radiesse for the ultimate collagen stimulation combo).
If your primary concern is fine lines and wrinkles, both Potenza and 10Therma are well-suited options.
If your primary concern is lack of definition or contour, then 10Therma is the best option.
If your primary concern is volume loss, 10Therma + dermal fillers or Sculptra/Radiesse are the best option.
If your primary concern is dull skin, then Potenza + skinboosters and chemical peels are the best option.
